President's Message
Wow its 2010 already! A very busy 2009 International Year of Astronomy (IYA) officially comes to an end; we look forward to 2010 as another busy year of public outreach and observing. 2010 is the 10th anniversary of RASC New Brunswick Centre; let’s make this our best year ever! With all the planned events this year, the number one event will be the National RASC 2010 General Assembly held in Fredericton at the University of New Brunswick on July 1-5. Check out RASC.CA for all GA 2010 information.
Our RASC New Brunswick Centre is making an enormous effort in promoting astronomy around New Brunswick, our public outreach plans include lectures, displays, public observing, local groups observing. You may even see us on observing on the sidewalks, drop on by and take a look! Don't forget the 'Stars and Stuff Festival' in Moncton, our members play a key role in this Festival. The next time you're out observing, invite somebody new to share in our fun. Also, we'll be hosting at least three Star Parties around New Brunswick; it's a great time to be an Amateur Astronomer!
I'd like to extend an invitation for all our members and non-members to attend our RASC New Brunswick Centre's monthly meetings whenever you can. If you haven't been to a meeting for awhile, this is a great year to attend as we have lots of great presentations, astronomy talks, RASC news and most of all FUN. Feel free to send me an email on any astronomy subject, suggestions, ideas, you would like to see presented at your meetings. Remember it's all of ours RASC New Brunswick Centre. Browse through our new RASC New Brunswick Centre's web site to find information on meeting dates, star parties, observing certificate awards and observing sites. Join our Yahoo RASC NB Group for group emails, special notices and activities.
Clear Skies!
