What to observe?

So you finally purchased your first telescope or pair of binoculars.
Now the big question, what do I look at?

There are tons of good books at your local book store that you can buy. You can also join your local astronomy club during a night of observation, the more experienced astronomers will be delighted to show off their knowledge :) Just ask them what to look for and brace yourself for a nice long chat :) Sharing knowledge about astronomy is what makes the hobby so pleasurable.
